"Being from Windsor, it was always extremely difficult to find pizza that is out-of-this-world good. Then, due to the fact that my best friends are from Colchester, I discovered The Plum Tomato, and that all changed. When I first visited The Plum Tomato with my friends, I took in the warming and welcoming vibe that the friendly wait staff and cozy decor gave off. It was then, before even tasting any food, that I realized this restaurant was a winner. We ordered fried mozzarella and a large mozzarella cheese pizza. Both dishes were amazing. The fried mozzarella was unlike any I've had before, in the sense that it was homemade, fresh, natural, and delicious, and the pizza was no different. Now, for me, nothing tops a good/great thin crust pizza, and this pizza not only exceeded my expectations, but was better than most thin crust pizzas I've had in New York City. After this first visit to The Plum Tomato, I have returned on many occasions, usually when I'm in Colchester visiting my friends, and I have yet to try something on their menu that I dislike. My friends and I do tend to order the same thing each time we visit, however, since cheese pizza and fried mozzarella is something that both the vegetarians and meat eaters can appreciate, but Plum Tomato's menu in general is full of variety for both meat eaters and vegetarians. My favorite dishes, aside from the previously-mentioned mozzarella pizza and fried mozzarella, include the El Taco pizza, the scrumptious fried dough, and the mouth-watering homemade soups, as well as some of the past Weekly Cravings specials, such as the fabulous homemade apple crisp. What we have in The Plum Tomato is a rare gem of a restaurant, and this is coming from someone with fine-dining experience. Great prices, incredible food, friendly staff, and a homey atmosphere. I really don't see how one could ask for more."

"What is your favorite menu item and why? I love the Frederico pizza with creamy garlic sauce! It's an awesome blend of ingredients and the garlic sauce is unique to your restaurant! We like other pizza places in town, but I find myself continually ordering from you because I like the creamy garlic sauce so much! I REALLY missed the Frederico during my recent pregnancy b/c I couldn't eat gorgonzola cheese. I've been making up for it ever since! What do you like about the atmosphere at the Plum Tomato? I like the atmosphere at The Plum Tomato because it's low key. The eclectic mix of tables/chairs, cool memorabilia, and relaxed mood make it a relaxing meal instead of a meal where I feel like I need to be on my best behavior. We almost always choose to bring family/friends there when they're visiting because it's so relaxed. What is the one thing that you return to the Plum Tomato for? Creamy garlic sauce! I also love that you guys carry Hosmer sodas! What could we do to make you come in more often? If there were more coupons/promotions, we would probably eat there or order out more often. I'm staying home with a baby right now and money is going to be tight for awhile on one income, but coupons seem to entice us to eat pizza. It seems that Papa Z's and Cafe Mangia are the only ones in town that offer regular promotions. We love Cafe Mangia, as well, but don't eat there as regularly due to the budget factor."

I especially love how you cater to the vegetarian community. Not only are many of your Cravings vegetarian friendly, but so is a lot of your regular menu! "Our favorite TWO items are the Michelangelo and Godfather pizzas. One of us is a vegetarian and the other is not so these two suit us just fine in a single pizza or two separate ones when we have friends in. We are so fortunate to have one excellent pizza house in town that is waist, head, and shoulders above all the others. We don't know what we would do for pizza if Plum Tomato were not in town. Probably skip pizza altogether."

"We love the Plum Tomato... getting their pizza takeout has become a favorite weekend routine for when we're too tired to cook. If you are going to order a Brickini, its necessary to eat them there right when they come out of the oven for best taste (THE BEST!!). The sweet potato fries are pretty awesome if you eat them in-house as well. The staff varies - we've had experiences with super-fast, professional service, but also others who ran a little slow and seemed new. Still love this place regardless."

"I love the Plum Tomato's plain cheese pizza because the crust has just the right crunchiness without being hard. The cheese gets golden brown, not only mozzarella white. I believe they put a little cheddar to make it brown which a lot of pizza places are too cheap to do. A plain cheese pizza is the way to tell if a pizza is great or not and their's is!"

"Although there are several pizza places in our area, we would rather drive the half hour to Plum Tomato in Colchester. They have the best pizza and wings and at a reasonable price. The staff is friendly and attentive no matter how busy. We leave there full and with leftovers! If you haven't been, you're really missing a treat!"
